any one know how to put a led in a neovibe that can let you see the speed of the lamp?

Anyone tried the JC Maillet idea of putting an LED in series with the LFO bulb?  I was curious if this would have a large effect on the bulb performance.  Seems like you'd have to be pretty careful about the bulb driver current not frying the LED.  Would the voltage drop across the LED change the bulbs response?  Also, how much current flows through the bulb?

I also had a bit of a brain fart regarding the cancel feature of the circuit (others have probably done this already :icon_wink: ).  The original circuit was not true bypass and just used a SPST switch to ground the bulb driver transistor's base, which turns the bulb off.  Projects on-line suggest converting the 'vibe to true bypass and omitting the cancel feature, but why not use both.  One could use the third section of a 3PDT bypass switch to work the cancel feature in order to turn the driver transistor off and the bulb would stop blinking when the pedal was bypassed.  This would greatly prolong the life of the bulb since it wouldn't be continuously flashing away when the pedal is powered on but bypassed.  If you were able to put a status LED in series with the bulb, it too would be turned off and you could control both the lamp and the status LED with the cancel switch.  Pedal "on" = bulb and LED flashing with LFO.  Pedal "bypassed" = bulb and LED stay off.

#1 -- I am a newbie, #2 I have not built my neovibe yet, but the parts are on the way...
But if yo wanted to make a led flash the same rate that the lamp does and not worry as much about current on q13, could you not just come off the collector of Q13 and drive the base of another transistor that switches your LED? (ondering this as well because I too would love a speed rate LED display on the face of the neovibe...has any body tried adding a tap tempo circuit to the neovibe to set the speed?

This is what i did and worked fine...
I've connected the led on Q12 base and through a 100K trim to the bypass switch so it is turned on when you use the effect.
another interesting (to me) mod you can do is explained here: http://www.diystompboxes.com/smfforum/index.php?topic=73174.msg593457#msg593457
to get more depth a low speed settings just wire a 100k trim pot in series with the 100k resisitor (R47). The higher the resistance, the darker the dark side of the bulb swing will be. Use the bias trimpot to get the bright side of the phase swing where you want it.
