My knobs and pot shafts don't correlate... ::)
That is to say, I inadvertently have a selection of both. I usually just go with the flow when selecting knobs for a project limited and based on the parts' compatibilities.
This time I REALLY want to use one of my 1/4 inch shaft knobs on a metric spline-shafted pot.
Of course i travells in a stupid eccentic orbitwhen it's turned, so I have been thinking abot possibble conversion tequniues. The easiest is shrink tubining but it doesntseem that hardy.
Has anyone come up with a better solution?

Is the 1/4 inch knob a spline shaft knob or a smooth one with set screw?

I've seen a product, basically a spacer which looked to give an exact fit, but it wasn't inexpensive if memory serves. Maybe you could make something like that from very thin brass sheets or something.

It has a brass insert with a smooth bore and set screw.
Yes, I've just got back from the hardware shop. I couldn't find anything really. I was hoping to get lucky with some copper tubing from the plumbing area.

I would look into JBweld or epoxy and some straw cutoffs to make the spline shaft smooth.  In fact, you might be able to just use the straw...

These work pretty well. http://www.guitarelectronics.com/product/CPBSH/Guitar_Bass_Control_Pot_Adapter_Bushings_2.html  Or if you have a source for brass or aluminum tubing the O.D. is 0.25" and the I.D is 0.235".

There was a thread about this a little while ago and i think the person ended up using a straw as a bushing, ??? can't be sure.

They look perfect...except for the price. They charge  $4.95 for a regular Alpha small pot so I'm thinking those bushes must be available cheaper, if I only knew where. This would be a good one for Small Bear to carry.

I would like to do some kind of home-brew solution if possible. My reasoning? Pure generation "Y" I want it, and I want it now  ;D
If I order something, I might as well just buy another pot.
