Secret Life of Pots type question

I have a Dano Cool Cat Chorus with a stereo output (wet and dry) that I'd like to mix these with a wet-dry knob so i can change how much wet and dry you get (the default is 50 50 and I'd like less wet. Ideally I'd have a Dual gang pot with 100k log and one Reverse 100k log. So as I turn up the wet signal the dry goes down. I'm thinking of converting a dual gang 100k linear pot with secret life of pot technology to an approximate dual gang 100k log and 100k reverse log pot. My question is will I get unity gain or will the overall volume be going up and down slightly. Of course two separate pots is a sure fire solution but  bit messy to do on the fly adjustments. Any suggestions welcome.

Thanks!

I'm not exactly sure how you are planning on setting this up. From what I gather, you are wanting to take the two outputs, put two volume controls on them, and then connect the pot outputs together?

You should know that mixing signals is not really as simple as sticking the wires together - In some cases, it will work, but it's much, much better to use an OP-AMP to mix the signals together. Read some of this for more info:

Perhaps there is a way you can mod the circuit itself to give you a depth control? I'm sure, with some careful analysis, you can find a way - it would be much easier to implement, providing you can find the right resistor to vary.

EDIT: Just noticed that we are both Chris S.  :icon_lol:

Hey also Chris S

QuoteFrom what I gather, you are wanting to take the two outputs, put two volume controls on them, and then connect the pot outputs together?

That alas is pretty much exactly what I was planning - so perhaps the problem is in the question. At the risk of embaressing myslef... I do have a depth control on the curcuit (2 controls speed and depth). When I've played around with adjusting the mix with a mixer I liked the depth at about 40% but the wet signal less than the dry signal. Am I kidding myslef if I think this sounds any different to say just having the depth at say 25%?

Thanks. I severely hope the answer to my "how do I mod this pedal to get this sound?" question is not "just turn down one of the knobs"

Hmmmm.... Well, they may have a different sound. It really depends on how the pedal is designed.

Do you have recording capability? If so, why don't you try recording the pedal, playing the same riff with the same setup, and comparing the two?

It would be a massive waste of effort to end up with the same thing, so I would suggest you make sure that there is a difference.
