I'm confused, and not trying to be unhelpful, but that image you linked, if it is the exact switch you need, shows the pcb traces and therefore how to wire it up...

yes it is...I'm very new to this...I stress very new to this so that's why I've been asking alot of questions to fully comprehend what you are saying

yes it is the exact switch I need...

I soldered everything last night and tested it with a 9v and it lit right up...depressed the switch and it shut it off but when I tried it today with my amp it was just in channel two and did not light up and when I tried to depress the switch nothing happened...

I'm just reading your post about trying it before a solder but since that's to late back to the drawing board...any help would be appriciated...you said to try to switch tip and sleeve? So I need to desolder both and the resistor, solder the resistor in series with the sleeve, and the tip to where the sleeve was...

here's a crappy cell phone pic of what's been done

that pic is hard to make out. it looks like it would work though. if it was working, then you had it. if it doesn't work now, then see what changed. Test the led.

so i switched the polarity and the power is coming from the sleeve...led comes on when the switch is activated and goes off when it's not...but it's still not changing the relay inside the amp  :icon_evil: this should be so easy I must be missing something...arrghh ??? ??? ???

so i got my amp with me right now and I tried the footswitch the way it is currently wired up...not working...still getting power to led and it's switching on and off with the switch but it's not breaking the ground...if I take a wire and touch the sleeve to the tip it works and I can hear the relay switch back and forth...how do I get this with a DPDT?

you need to check and see which channel the head control needs to be on for the switch to work. for example, my ashdown bass head has a sub octave with a footswitch. THe sub octave has to be in the "on" position to be switched on and off by the footswitch. If it isn't, I get the LED light but no actual switching.

I'm thinking the led you are using is drawing too much current preventing the relay from switching. Try a basic red or green led from radio shack, and I'm talking the old school non water clear leds here. My randall map has the same issue with modern leds, but with old school, it works fine.
