Need XR 2216 (compressor) pinout or schematic

Recently I picked up some XR2216 compressor IC's, the NE 570/572 becoming more scarce and more expensive. I cannot locate any information (datatsheet, applications) on this chip, although I looked at most (I think) major sites with datasheets, visited the EXAR (manufacturer) site and used several browsers, etc. Visited several sites of suppliers who couple datasheets to their offering, but neither of these could provide any further information either. The 2216 appears to be quite old, somewhere from the 70ies, and I assume that therefore nobody has ever bothered to put relevant data on the internet. So the question is: who can help me to some information for using this chip or point me to some relevant source?
