simple enough. make a bass big muff pi? what did you start with and end up with? what component values did you switch out? did you do anything exstensive or keep things simple?

I've just built a Big Muff for a bass playing friend of mine.  I built a Green Russian (scheme and PCB at GGG) as these seem popular with bass players.  I initially built it with 5089's but changed to 5088's.  I increased the input and output caps from 0.1uF to 0.22uF and 1.0uF respectively.  Also changed the 0.0039uf in the tone stack to 0.0012uF (I think, not sure of value) to reduce the mid scoop.  I got the tone stack cap value by playing with the Duncan Amps calculator.  Also but an LPB in front as my mates bass is really low output and wouldn't drive it hard enough to distort.  Still needs fine tuning.

Gotta have a clean blend for bass. +1

AFAIK, bass muffs are the same deal as guitar muffs--just w/ a clean blend :) keeps things easy...as a big muff should be.

I built a big muff pi, and I play bass mainly. All I did was increase input and output caps and I liked it. Granted, I haven't used it in a while, so maybe that tells you something. I like my distortion to really distort.
