Hi im a bit of a newbie. I built a fuzz from a kit, which i enjoyed so the i built a RM octavia and a ts9 using tonepad boards. The problem is that im not sure if they sound as they should. I used to own a ts9 years ago ( I sold it for like 10GBP $15. I know I know) and this pedal doesnt sound like how i remember it.

I have checked all values and voltage at transitors and ic pins and all is as it should be.
So
Q1 what components affect the sound the most and what should i try to change.
Q2  are ther any sound clips from these specific builds I could compare. Obviously amp and guitar are factors in the sound but id at least know if i was close.

Everything affects the sound. It's pretty much impossible to tell what yours sounds like without a sound sample.

 They should all boost.
The knobs [usually] do something like what their label describes.
If it says 'fuzz', it should, same with octave.
Beyond that is a good place to check, starting at ground and measuring all the voltages etc., especially if it seems 'weak' in some way...depends on the build though.
The debugging sticky thread is helpful.
Convention creates following, following creates convention.
