Input stereo jack disconnects battery only when not in enclosure

Hi,

i've put my BISAB2 into  a 1590BB. But i have a little problem: i've connected the ground of the battery to the sleeve of the input stereo jack (and the other sleeve to the V- on the circuit). When the jack is not in place into the 1590bb, the disconnection of the battery when non cable is inserted works fine; but when i put the input jack on the metal enclosure, it doesn't disconnect any more.... (whenever i switch, led goes on)...

What am i doing wrong ?

Thanks in advance

If you're sure you have the wiring right to the jack then it could be a faulty jack. Somehow the "sleeve" is connecting to the enclosure (the enclosure is part of your "ground") regardless of a plug being in or not. I've seen this happen with the super cheapo jacks, particularly the one's where the normal ground lug rotates if you tighten the jack too snug. The solder lug can turn and make contact with other parts of the jack, or the box itself.
If thats the case, stick with neutrik or switchcraft... Can't go wrong with those. If you have any other stereo jack around try swapping it out and see if that solves it (or "borrow" one from a pedal you're not using). I'm assuming you don't have a DMM or continuity tester.
good luck.

You might have the sleeve and ring mixed up. Switch them and see if it fixes the problem.

I concur.  You want to connect the battery negative to the RING on the stereo input jack, not the SLEEVE.

Never used the "sleeve" and "ring" terminology (I just think of it in regards to stereo vs. mono jack) so these guys might be right.
