Noob question here.  Looking at the pic of a 3PDT switch here:

http://www.diystompboxes.com/pedals/images/DPDT3PDT.jpg

Are the three poles the middle row, or middle column of pins?

Also, is it convention to label the input pole "A" (or Sw1a), the output pole "B" (Sw1b), and LED pole "C" (Sw1c) for true-bypass switching?  It seems that the LED pole is often the center one, making the pole labeling from left to right (or top to bottom) A, C, B.  Which seems kinda weird, why not A, B, C (so that the LED pole is the rightmost, or bottom, pin)?

Hope people understand what I'm asking/getting at...  Sorry if this is confusing...

It will develop your understanding of the switch a LOT more if you find it out by using your ohmmeter.

Give it a try, and yell back if you can't figure it out.

In response to the questions in the forum - PCB Layout for Musical Effects is available from The Book Patch. Search "PCB Layout" and it ought to appear.

I shoulda known better than to ask a dumb, er lazy-ass, question.  Do I really gotta drag my DMM out tonight?  ;)

Thanks for the reality check!

Well, I clearly have my footswitch wired correctly.  ;D  On to other things...  :(

your dmm isnt already sitting on your workspace ready to be used at all times?
it's not a BURST BOX  it's a circuit box with burst button...

My DMM IS ready at all times.

My computer and workspace are in different parts of the house.  Again, I was just too lazy get off my butt and go to the bench... :icon_rolleyes:

now that you've done the research, there's a bit of read here that answers your question on the poles and throws:

as for conventional setup of the columns, I don't think there really is one. people seem to use whatever is convenient. as long as input is on the left and output is on the right, otherwise it would just be silly. for convenience of layout i don't use the last illustration's method anymore and have input, then output, then led - from left to right.
Blood, Sweat & Flux. Pedals made with lasers and real wires!
