Big Muf Pi LED won't turn off

i built a big muff with tonepad's layout. i connected the led to the board via the layout and the pedal sounds stinking awesome!...but the led won't turn off. the only thing i can think of is that i didn't use any electro caps. i used all non-polarized metal film 1uf's. could that be the problem? i don't have any other problems with it.

oh, and i had to add a protection resistor to the led. i thought the layout already had one. i kept blowing led's until i added the resistor.
thanks

What kind of switch are you using?

I don't know if it's me who does not see it but there is no info on the bypass circuit on the BM layout document at tonepad:

http://www.tonepad.com/getFile.asp?id=94

You have to refer to the outboard document and specify what method of bypass you used.

3pdt or millenium (what version). etc.

The documentation is there:

i'm using a dpdt because the led is connected to the board.

i thought of something. could it be because i don't have it boxed up yet and the jacks aren't grounded to the case?

You mean your dpdt ?
You have to make a millenium with one dpdt...
Go on GEO to read about it.

i understand the millenium but this has millenium on the board already...i think. every other layout from tonepad does. i built a dod280 with one of their layouts and the led worked fine with a dpdt.

The DOD280 schematic and layout have a different kind of bypass system at tonepad.  The LED indicator circuit is included in the layout and the schematics.

In the Big muff there is no such an indicator circuit and the offboard wiring is not included.  Plus on the layout I only see four transistors and they are part of the Big Muff signal circuit.  You MUST consult the offboard wiring PDF and decide on a bypass circuit to include with your board.  The left over pads are connected directly on power and ground so there is no way to switch the LED on and off.  As I see on the pdf it's quite normal that it stays on all the time...

Study what you see on the pdfs a bit.
