Hi, thought you might be interested in this:

I'm opening a webshop supplying parts for the DIY builder, primarily for UK builders, but will obviously ship wherever.

The shop is called "Doctor Tweek's" and should be up and running by the end of May...I'm still uploading stuff to the site and trying to make sure it launches as smoothly as possible.

The web address is www.doctortweek.co.uk

I hope to offer a fair range of products at start-up and I aim to make my prices, carriage and service a pleasure for the customer.

Obviously as a new start up that is not funded by a secret millionaire, initial stock ranges in the dozens of items rather than the hundreds. However, I think I have most bases covered and as the shop develops I will increase the inventory.

Price wise, Doctor Tweek's is going to offer value for money, especially (initially) for the hobby builder who does not want to buy 200 of something. However, if any boutique builders are reading this - I will of course attempt to source and supply larger quantities at discount.

Looking forward to seeing you in the shop - meanwhile pop along to the Blog and say 'HI!'at:

Doctor Tweek

Interesting... will you be open to stock suggestions? There's a few parts in the U.K that tend to either be largely over priced or unavailable that I can think of that many builders would probably be interested in.

Maudibe

Yes, absolutely open to suggestions.

Let me know what's tricky or slow getting to you. As for prices then I will always listen to reasonable feedback.

Look forward to hearing your suggestions.

Mail me at info@doctortweek.co.uk

Kind regards.

First place I've ever seen standoff foam for sale! :)

Right UKers: Where's the cheapest place to get knobs? Surely they don't always cost €1/£1 each?

Just after normal boring small ones.

shadybrady

If you are after coloured 6mm shaft ones then bits box are probably your best bet - http://www.bitsbox.co.uk/resistors/potentiometers.html#knob

Hi Y'all,

Well I've read this thread and here are my comments:

Pots; most in stock, despite being sold out last weekend! My re-order time is sweet anyway, so if I am out I can fill the order sharp. Doctor Tweek is similar price to bitsbox  - and Doctor Tweek also has some of the alpha pots coming in too, and although I haven't done the maths yet I reckon they will be cheaper than elsewhere. I have put a really small order in for them to start... personally I like the nylon shaft...but that's just me and shafts.  :D

Standoff Foam - yes - sometimes you need it...I have a few packs for those that do. I'm trying to cover all the bases for the hobby builder here.

Doctor Tweeks 3pdt stompswitches are £3.95 and that is for the superior Tiawan model. If someone wants 200 I can do, given the lead time and, yes they will be cheaper. If you want 200 I can do them for £2.80 inclusive + p&p. But there will be a lead time... just mail me info@doctortweek.co.uk

Knobs - I carry high end knobs that fit to the shafts...oh, dear....erm...  ::)  but I have now stocked some nice plain 15mm black small knobs here at a really reasonable cost:

http://www.doctortweek.co.uk/shop/article_163/Knob---Tweek-Knob-Number-5.html?shop_param=cid%3D2%26aid%3D163%26

Please bear in mind that these are inclusive and minimal P&P

Hope this helps the UK builder...if you need something then mail! If I aint got it or you think I am over the odds for the price I would like your feedback and I'll try to help. As you know Doctor Tweek is a new shop and has some Tweeking to do  - your help is appreciated to get it right.

Meanwhile... I put a really good enclosure package together the other day...fab - it's on Ebay as well as the shop. Some other plonker did the same, nearly doubled the price and included an LED and two bits of short hookup for the £7.43 difference...my god!  :icon_eek: And, here's the worst bit... he's sold two and I haven't moved one yet. It makes you wonder?

Best. Steve  @ Doctor Tweek

Hides-His-Eyes

Do those knobs work with solid shaft pots? I've got some weirdos from musikding and NONE of the knobs I have will fit them.

Maudibe, just a warning-

On your ebay listings your location is listed as your actual postcode rather than your actual town; enough for google to give me a picture of your house!

Change it to just the general area or some idiot on ebay who thinks himself hard done by could make things miserable for you!

novakram

Just to say I ordered a couple of 3dpt switches from the doctor - cheaper than any other UK based service I could find and by Jove he's quick with postage. Will defo deal with him (you!) again. Nice one.

Maudibe

Hi, thanks for the super positive feedback Novakram  8)

Hides-His-Eyes...thanks for the heads up with that. I don't know if I can change that as a business user, but yea, privacy is important if your trading from your home addy. So will look into it.

Regarding the knobs - they are for 6mm solid 'nylon' shafts... The good thing is, if they are a bit small you could just ream them out another 0.3mm to fit the 'true' 1/4" jobbies...a 10 second job. Grub screw fixing, so will secure to smooth or splined shafts.

DeadAstronaut - you asked about the enclosures... well I could put just them up, but I was trying to add some value by adding extra bits to get the builder, particullarly the hobby builder off the ground. Of course adding more bits sort of makes it more worthwhile too regarding the postage.
Thats why I have just started with half a dozen to see what the demand is like.

But thanks for your interest and hint... I'll put naked enclosures up  :-*
Cheers everyone.
Best, Steve @ Doctor Tweek

Chugs

I'd buy some of those enclosures if you sold them separately.    ;D

Maudibe

Yo!

The enclosures are available now - only one size so far, but proving popular... I am also doing various base kits that give you virtually everything you need. The site has been re-worked over the last couple of days so stuff should be really easy to find. Plus there is a pretty good search function on the top header bar.

If you guys from the uk or europe need anything then mail me... also your suggestions are still welcome: so far from customer suggestions I have implemented easier search, stocking of alpha pots in most values, smaller 'project sized' quantities of parts, cheaper high quality plastic knobs.

Thanks for all your support - oh, and if you have any pedal builds you'd like to showcase, or tips and tricks then mail them to me info@doctortweek.co.uk

Best, Steve @ Doctor Tweek
