CMOS Tremolo

I had this idea to make a tremolo with some CMOS inverters. I haven't tried this yet, it's untested. I took the Anderton tremolo and combined it with the Tube Sound fuzz.

Would it be possible to replace the Vactrol with something other than a LED+LDR?

You could use PWM for CMOS switching but that means way more components..
With a JFET you might get away with little efforts..


Because there's an unused inverter left; you could even get a sine wave output from the LFO:

That's interesting. Looks like the JFET is used like a variable resistor.

Good suggestion about the extra inverter. I was thinking of uses for it. Seemed like a fun problem to use up all of the inverters.
