I ordered the SD-1 kit from Monte, no worries there.  The pedals sounds GREAT now.  The most significant mod to my ears was the addition of the geranium diode.  The high gain resistor mod was a little too high gain for me so I tweaked it to taste.

Remember, change on part at a time and test.

PM me if you want a really extensive mod that'll leave it sounding nothing like an SD1, but very nice nevertheless.

I have done the mod and it sound great.
I have made a switch so I can switch between the 1N4148 and the 1N34A but I can't really hear the difference. Will the sound change a lot or do I have some problem there?

No, you'll barely hear any change at all.  Which mod did you end up doing?

I did most of you mod mixed with the Keeley mod from the Overdrive spider page.
It sound much better and smoother now compered to the stock version. It's a very all around overdrive now with this mod.
Thanks again... ;) ;)

I think this diagram for the switching is wrong. You should use the middle lug of the switch.

BAARON

The diagram switches between the two diodes attached to it.  In the left position, it shorts the right diode, so only the left one is active, and vice versa.  If the switch is on/on/on, it shorts both diodes in the middle.  If it's on/off/on, it has both diodes active in the middle.

On the diagram it is specified On/On...

Edit for removing stupidity... :-X
I know, but the pedal i built does not boost...it just increases volume!

BAARON

"on/on" does not mean that it indiscriminately turns them both on, Dan.  An on/on switch works by connecting the center lug to ONE of the outside lugs at a time, and leaving the other lug disconnected.  So the two lugs that are connected together end up creating a short that bypasses the diode that is soldered to them, while the third lug (which isn't connected to anything) does NOT bypass its diode.  Rather, that diode is the only path that power can flow through.  Thus, it switches between the two diodes, by alternately bypassing one and leaving the other in the signal path.

Yeah you're right.  :icon_redface: I've got the eyes criss crossed...too much solder fumes i guess.  :P
