Well, right now I'm waiting for my other components from Mouser.com

I purchased the stuff on Tuesday.  I chose UPS Ground shipping, but Mouser upgraded my shipping to 3-day select for no extra charge and UPS received the package on Wednesday.  Now, this is stupid, Wednesday doesn't even count as a business day for the shipping, so it starts the next day, which means I won't be getting my package until Monday.... which means school (aka hell, got too many advanced courses).  I was soooo excited to start this weekend and fired up of encountering mistakes and debugging and stuff like that, but 3-day select shipping just had to actually be 4 business days...

But.... I already bought an aluminum enclosure from Radio Shack and got some parts from pedalpartsplus.com so I worked on that instead for the time being.  I'll be posting my progress on this thread and ask for help when i need it.

So here's what I got so far....

(I'm not gonna use that soldering tip, I'm borrowing a solder station)
The aluminum enclosure is somewhat tall, so I decided to cut about 6/10 inch off with a dremel

This was a lot harder than I anticipated.  I frequently get shard explosions when the cutting discs don't like how they're being used....
Good thing I had my friends full-face airsoft mask

Height is cut after A LOT of effort.  I pre-drilled the holes using a layout I maid to pinpoint where to drill.
I was still waiting for my unibit to come in the mail at the time

First time using a unibit, I love it already

These pots are part of the batch I bought from pedalpartsplus.com
I got another 100k pot coming from mouser.
Now, I TOTALLY forgot to have a third 1M audio pot and I started freaking out.
Fortunately I had a spare 24mm one, but it's linear taper.  It's gonna be used as a volume, I hope the difference won't be too great

Yeah, that 24mm just stands out...

Measured out the spacing and drilled holes for the audio jacks

Well, that's all I got so far.  Can't wait to get my stuff from Mouser and get starting while listening to very loud music with thrumping sub-woofing.  Now, time to finish my Anatomy and Physiology homework so I can have free time one Monday....

I messed around with graphics again this morning and just came up with a ridiculous name

I might have the name changed unless I like it like that.  I was just playing around with vocabulary

The swirling effect and black figure was all done from scratch on photoshop.  No copying, I don't wanna get in trouble (like there's a chance anyways)

Man, what is with the radioshacks in Phoenix? I have been to about 6 separate stores and I have never seen any metal enclosures or transformers of any kind in them.

Anyways, the build looks great!

That black pattern would look great etched.... Providing the enclosure was thicker..

I believe you could request the product online and they'll ship it to the store for you to pick up without shipping charges, but I'm not exactly sure.  My radioshack sucks, too.  they don't sell etching solutions which is for in-store buying only.  I live way to far from other electronics supply stores.
And that etching idea sounds awesome, I should try that in the future with those pattern designs.

Hey hey! Looking nice! I am building a Dr.Boogey too...except I am using an old CD-ROM drive as an enclosure.
Sometimes to do it right, you have to Do It Yourself.

That ought to look interesting, how far are you on it?

Before I get started on homework again, here's a couple of my first stompboxes
They're SHO boosts, works fine but I dont have other stompboxes to use with it yet.

Here's a whole video gallery of how it was made:

Okay, the rest of the supplies came in today and I've soldered all the components onto a perfboard.  I used Xavier's perf layout.  I'm getting really skeptical hear, the trimpots that I was given are longer and take up more space, so I've been having a hard time rearranging and remembering what connects to what.  Now it looks like a mess and it will be hard to double check.  I'll be finishing up with connecting the pots tomorrow and will hope for a miracle.

I added on another piece of perfboard so that it could actually fit everything...

This will be hell to debug...

more updates tomorrow.

Not to hijack this thread but it seems that it's a Dr. Boogey season. I'm also currently building mine and I also saw another Dr. Boogey thread asking for biasing help.

I hope the TS won't mind posting my pics in this thread. And sorry for the crappy pics. I still have to learn how to get a good picture from my new phone.

Here's a shot inside its enclosure.

Here's a close-up of the board.

Here's a shot on the solder-side. I used Gaussmarkov's layout as my perf pattern. This Dr. Boogey version is a refined one so thanks to Gaussmarkov and to the other guys who have helped  contribute in designing this version. And of course not to forget Electrictabs. Thanks!

I have already confirmed that my board is working. I only need to install the gain pot as my goal as of now is just to get a signal from input up until Q5's source which I did. I first biased the first transistor then checked if there's a signal at the end of C2. Next bias the second transistor then checked the signal at the end of C7. I also checked if the gain pot is working correctly. Did the same thing for Q3 and checked the signal at the end of C8. Biased the fourth transistor and checked the signal at Q5's source. So I've already eliminated a 95% suspicion that there's something wrong with the board in case I don't get a signal at the output once everything is completed. I will immediately work on the tone controls from there on so debugging would be fairly easier.

This is only my second perf so I'm quite happy with my results.   :icon_wink:
