I have a bunch of parts and an empty perf board. I'll I've done so far is a few kits from Moody Sounds - All worked out great. I'm hoping to try putting something on this perf board, but have no idea what! Any ideas? Although I don't know what everything is, here's (roughly) some of what I have:

Transistors:
10 x 2N3906
10 x 2N3904
2 x C618 (W 62?)
4 x BC108C

Ok - I'm too lazy to count all the resistors and caps, but I have a bunch of various values...some LED's, one IC - TL071. A bunch of diodes, DC jacks, switches and stuff...so some ideas would be cool!

Thanks.

RNG. It is very simple.

Can you elaborate? VERY new   :)

You could do a silicon fuzz face or get adventurous and try a big muff.

I think he is referring to "random number generator." Which is a simple design for a sort of octave/glitch/wiggly arpegiator/fuzz/??? pedal designed by Doug Deeper of MidFi electronics. I've built one and they are fun.

My favorite pedal that I have built in the past few months (out of about 7 that I've built) is the pushme pullyou which is a clean to fuzzy octave up (adjustable gain). Easy to build and cool sounding.

What kind of effects do you lack or have not built yet - ie fuzz, weird noisemaker, filters, etc...?

I'd dig through this site and see what seems interesting - personally it is my favorite DIY circuits site: http://www.geocities.com/tpe123/folkurban/fuzz/snippets.html

the pushme pullyou sounds awesome! I think I might try that...I'm got a fuzz, trem, echo, so something in an octave is perfect. Do you know where I can find a perf board layout?  Also, as this will be my first perf project, I have a dumb question - for the solder traces, do i need to add wire underneath or anything? or is it more like "connect the dots"?

Here is the layout I think I used:

If you google pushme pullyou layout you can find a stripboard layout too (which could be easily adapted for perf by just wiring where the strips go).

As far as wiring perf, you just make sure that your wires connect where you see traces on the layout. It can be a little confusing at first as generally the layouts show the layout from above and you wire underneath, but you get used to flipping it over and seeing it.

Generally I just use the long component leads to wire from one part to the next according to the layout, and in rare cases, have to wire an extra lead where the leads don't reach (I just use cut off leads from other components). My stuff looks messy, but it works. So yea, you are connecting the dots in a way... according to the traces shown on the layout.

That's awesome! Thanks for the help...I'll report back in a few days!
