Could you use reliably use 25v rated caps as i am finding it difficult to locate the 35v rated radial 13.5mmm dia caps which will fit the ggg pcb. I intend to use  a 20vdc unregulated input psu input :icon_question:

It depends. What voltage appears there? If it's always less than 25V, you're golden. If it's more, you're taking chances on them failing before they can self-heal up to the circuit voltage.

If you have a problem finding caps that small, put the largest capacitance you can get that fits onto the PCB, then add more capacitance off the PCB by running wires to the external cap. Or just try it and see if with the smaller capacitance you get good-enough hum/ripple action. There's nothing magic about the 1000uF value. Those were just the biggest values that fit the space that Mouser had when I wrote that up.

In response to the questions in the forum - PCB Layout for Musical Effects is available from The Book Patch. Search "PCB Layout" and it ought to appear.

Mouser # : 539-SEK35V1000

$1.68 each
Mallory high temp +105C
Good fit for the board and not too tall.
Deception does not exist in real life, it is only a figment of perception.
