Long pin pots?

What I'd really like are some pots that have leads like resistors. Long, bendable, but somewhat stiff. I can't quite find anything like this. Does such a thing exist?

ode2no1

why don't you just solder wires to the pot if all you need is for the leads to be longer? sorry...not trying to sound like a jerk, but i don't understand what you're getting at with needing this.

Taylor

That's a reasonable question, don't worry about it. The reason is that when you're building more than one pedal, and each one has 8 pots or so, that's 24 extra little wires to strip and solder at each end. This eats up time.

smallbear does these ones with long 90% legs

I just wish i could find a UK supplier as i too have been looking for these.

Please at least have 1 forum post before sending me a PM demanding something.

Well, actually I know about those, but I'm looking for something where the pins are uniformly skinny, like resistor leads. With those Alpha pots, you don't have any room to decide how long the pins should be. I wanted to mount these on a board that also has board-mounted rotary switches. I need to be able to adjust the pin length of the pots to match the clearance of the rotaries.

I don't think anything like that exists.

I found this:

but I'm guessing I'd need to buy like 10,000 to get some. That's pretty much exactly what I'm looking for, though.

Bourns makes those as well. They are about $10 each if not more.
And not in all common values.
I was thinking you wanted standard sized pots or at least standard
spacings...

Hey, I heard back from them, $1.20 each and I guess they do small quantities. Nice. Hooray for answering your own question!

oh man, I could use some of these! yay for reading threads!

for the same reasons, too. large quantities of the same pedal. up till now I've been soldering clipped resistor legs to the pots.

minimum order of 100
bit much for me, especially without samples to try

Hmm, they told me "1.20 for small qty less than 100 pcs". I thought that meant they will sell less than 100 pcs.

I could possibly go in on an order with you, PM me if you want to do that.
