MXR noise gate no output

I've tried a lot of things and it still not working.  With the input disconnected and the output still connected to the amp I hear a thumping sound when connected with a Power Supply.  If I use a battery it's not there.

I still haven't gotten this thing to work.   9v PSU connected I get this thumping sound coming from my amp with the effect enabled.

This is a tricky build. Check my build report, maybe there's something there. I remember having to tweak a few values:
