hi, i'm looking for some sort of circuit CAD software for mac OSX that can do breadboard layouts and vero layouts as well as PCB layouts, stripboard layouts and schematic drawings although the last 3 things are less important at the moment. If it's too much to ask for one piece of software that does all of those things then can anyone please suggest various programs for the different things

thanks in advance

Try eagle.
http://www.cadsoftusa.com/
Its free and best. And the good thing is it available for both windows and mac. But is only for pcb layout.

mac

i was using designworks lite for mac os9. it is a demo version that writes an invisible file in the preferences folder :)

mac
mac@mac-pc:~$ sudo apt install ECC83 EL84

birt

i use Osmond to design pcb layouts and Jschem to draw schematics and tube amp layouts

I use Osmond, too, and like it a lot. As I recall, the free version of Eagle is limited in the size of PCBs and schematics you can draw. Osmond is very powerful and has no such restrictions.

I use the Quartz version, I found the Cocoa version pretty buggy.

the freeware version of eagle works great on mac, and you can take files back and forth between systems without any trouble.
