Don't really get whats better about this. I know there are a few schems that reccomend this as a FF mod, but never seen it explained...
Thanks!  ???

Its all described in geofex FF Tutorial/explanation. But since i had such questions for myself in the beginning of my diy-pedal-education here it is in short:

2k pot gives you more gain/fuzz and frequency response if the pot is cranked. Thats because the voltage divider with the 100k from T1 to T2 has a bigger reference to ground (100k-2k instead of 100k-1k). Compare this to the values in the analogalchemy electronics math helper in this forum...

The thing about the modified frequency of fuzz is much more complex though...read it at geofex/R.G´s explanations. btw, search button in this forum might also help you out ;)

It plays a part in controlling the gain of Q2 and the DC bias for the circuit as a whole.  With the pot at minimum, 1k gives greater gain than 2k, because there is less degenerative emitter feedback to Q2 and the voltage divider formed by the pot plus feedback resistor results in LESS signal getting to the input, which means less NEGATIVE feedback and more signal.
With the fuzz up all the way, it's pretty much the same.  The main difference is that 1k will clip slightly sooner, but with a gain of ~1000 it's not like you'd notice.

Thanks for the info.
BTW, I did search. Used: "2K fuzzface", "2K pot fuzzface" "2K Fuzz-pot". Only came up with minimal info. Also read RG's explanation. Just wanted another take on it as RG's explanations sometimes take a while for me to wrap my head around. I know the unofficial rule about searching before asking and I try to adhere to it. Thanks for taking the time to answer my post.-chuck

This has been in schematics for years that link up top

Adjust the 5K bias listen and also note the voltage reading at the transistors pins aat different bias settings
