Help me Mod my DS-1 to a Ts808 tube screamer type

I know these are very different circuits, but I was wondering if there are any mods or info around that might help me mod my ds-1 to a tubscreamer. I know some of the general things that need to be switched are: symetrical clipping, roll the lows off below about 720 and reverse the big mid scoop that is inherent to the DS-1. I did quite a few searches, any help is appreciated.
Do any of the "Big guys" do a DS_1 to TS type mod?

I doubt anyone would do mods like that, as an SD-1 can be made into a TS808 much more easily and practically. You could even change the symmetric of the clipping and you are more then halfway there.

I've heard of a countless number of TS808 mods, and the DS-1 is probably the most modded effect in history. But I've never heard of them being modded into one-another.

Just glancing at the two effect PCBs they don't look even remotely related; the TS808 looks entirely IC based for boosting the signal for diode clipping, whereas the DS-1 has an IC as well as a monumental EIGHT transistors! Along with twice the number of diodes as the TS808. I would think that modding a DS-1 to a TS808 would mean replacing so many parts you might as well build your own!

Doesn't look too big a job: http://fuzzcentral.ssguitar.com/pcbs/TS808layout.gif
Behringer don't do signatures, but if they did, they'd probably stop working mid sen

I've converted a SD-1 into a TS808 but never a DS-1.  Wampler's book tells how to do this.  Otherwise, as was already mentioned, the TS808 is a fairly easy build from scratch.

It's a bit like asking for help modding a Volkswagon Jetta into a Dodge minivan.  Yes, they both have engines, 4 wheels, and use an internal combustion engine, but.....

Yes the SD-1 to TS808 has been done.  I have built the TS, SD and the DS separately.   I like all three for different reasons and uses.  I actually use the DS-1 the most.  They're not modded much at all.  It always amazed me how no one cares for their DS-1's.  I like its raunchy distortion.  It's good for many music styles.  The TS sounds great going in to my Prof Tweed but by itself I don't use it much.  In the SD-1 I used a TLO72 instead of a 4558 which made it less fuzzy.  The DS-1 I used the tonepad schem using a TLO72 also.  So maybe that has something to do with why I like them.  Anyways I'm rambling but I say build them all.  They all have their place.

I think you might be including the transistors that make up the flip-flop for the switching and the switching FETs themselves! A stock Tubescreamer also has these.

That aside, the topology of the two effect circuits is very different.
Bringing you yesterday's technology tomorrow.

it CAN be done, but honestly you are going to do so much work to get it there that you might as well just build a tubescreamer. the circuits are very different all around - gain stages, tone control, clipping, etc. You'd have a MUCH easier time using a sd-1 to get it to tubescreamer specs.

Why not just buy a TS808 PCB from GGG and build your own? That would be a heck of a lot easier.
