I've been tearing my hair out searching for an article I read a while back regarding uses for low hfe germanium transistors.

I swear it was on Jack's site but I can't find it there or here. Anyone know the article? Or even some suggestions for uses?
Have some 25-50 hfe ge's (after leakage). Don't like them as Q1 in a FF...

Thanks in advance! Chuck

I am interested in this too as I have  a few low hfe transistors lying around that I am wondering what to use them in.

Is this what you are looking for? http://www.muzique.com/news/leaky-transistor-buffer/
It's a buffer not a booster though.

No, but thanx for the effort. I read that one already. I think I'm just going to breadboard some basic boosters, use trimmers, and see what I come up with.
If it's good I'll post the results!

Q2 in the germanium version of the Mosrite Fuzzrite works well with low gain ~30, and 50ish is fine for Q1 and Q2 in a 3-knob Tone Bender.
