How would the Mesa Boogie V-1 Bottle Rocket work through a cabsim to the PA?

Hi fellas, sorry for the newbie question. Found out about this pedal recently, heard good things about it and I'm now contemplating getting one. I'm currently using a Blackstar HT-DIST, which works OK in the above combination, but I'm looking for a tighter sound, as close to the Rectifier as I can get. Harmony Central reviews were mixed, there were a couple of them specifically stating that this pedal would best work in front of an amp, others seemed to plug it to a poweramp. I do have an amp, but not with me, as I've moved to another country and it'll take a while before I'm able to bring it here, I only have a mobile rig: Blackstar->DI->Apogee Duet. Thanks in advance for any input!

I was looking into building one of these, but I don't think it's in recto territory, at least by looking at the schematic. Why don't you build something yourself? I recently completed SLO preamp which is basically the same as dual recto and it kicks ass. Check it out http://diy-fever.com/wordpress/amps/black-box/

I would try to build one, but I'm a complete idiot when it comes to electronic stuff

In that case I'd recommend getting someone to build you Dr Boogey. I recorded some clips of my build before selling it. Pedal into a cab sim (palmer) into recorder.
