Hi folks, I recently got a new computer with Win7 and now the older Windows only version of DIy Layout Creator won't run propperly.  there are constant boxes with exceptions and file not found sort of things pioppoing up.  I installed full java, and that allows me to use the new beta version that is cross platform found here: http://diy-fever.com/index.php?project=software.  But still the older, simpler version will not run.  Has anyone else had this problem and found a solution?  I will start learning to use the newer version, but it has some clunkiness in the design that instantly made it more difficult to do a simple layout of a just a few parts.

Thanks for any suggestions.

I have windows 7 and I use the windows version of DILYC. The first time you run the program I believe you have to right click the icon and select "run as administrator" or something to that effect. If that doesn't help let me know and I will look into it more, as it runs fine with me.

DILYC runs for me, it's the older Windows only version I would prefer to work.

Rick click on the DIY icon, select "run as administrator".  That did the trick, don't know why but it did.

Are you talking about the java version or the .exe? Because I can't get the exe to work on Vista

Stick the Tremulus Lune in a Feedback Loop and your neighbors will call the cops on you. Which will be awesome.

I had exactly the same problem, and was rather cheesed off to find it didnt work.  However I also found that if you right click on the icon and tick the "run as administrator" box it runs fine.

as others have said running it as administrator should do the trick.

there are also compatibility modes. right click, properties, then click the compatibility tab. you can pick xp in the drop down.
it's not a BURST BOX  it's a circuit box with burst button...

thanks for helping out here, I never tried running the old version on Vista nor Win7 so can't help with that.
I hope it won't be long till the new Java version is done and it should be easy enough to use to render the old DIYLC obsolete, I understand that usability (and performance) is the biggest issue with v2.
Cheers
The new version of DIY Layout Creator is out, check it out here

Are you guys running 64 bit operating systems?  If theres any old 16 bit code in these applications they typically won't run in a 64 bit OS.  Win 7 64 bit is supposed to run 32 bit and 64 bit programs fine but if you need to you can run your app in the virtual XP thats in Win 7.
