I've been searching for an MXR effects pedal sized enclosure that is 4.25"x2.25"x1.25" in size for my future DIY project. Are any available and where? As a fallback I might have to settle for the larger 125B at 4.7"x2.5"x1.5" or a Hammond 1590B but I'd really like something the size of the MXR pedals.

I like these boxes. The screws are much better than the screws that come with the standard B sized boxes.

This is really close:

Yeah that is close. I looked it up on another site and it says the dimensions are 4.37"x 2.37"x1.07"

I saw on an Analogman page they used a box the exact same size as the MXR enclosures for a pedal clone they did. I wonder where they got them? Unless they 'exaggerated' and it is this actually box. I just hope going this small leaves room for a 9V battery because of the corner screw humps! I'll search and see if there is a data spec sheet on it for the inside dimensions.

Thanks,

This one's pretty much the right dimensions but slightly shorter.

Hmm, it says the 1290NS enclosure is also 4.37"x2.37"x1.07" same as the Tiawan B enclosure.

This Eddystone 27134PSLA box, including the cover is 4.37"x2.36"x1.22": http://www.rapidonline.com/netalogue/specs/30-1532.pdf

I like this Hammond 1590B enclosure too - 4.409"x2.382"x1.22" (including cover) and  you can get it pre-painted in powder black as the 1590BBK. Not sure if you should drill holes before or after painting?

these are the size your looking for. http://jaycar.com.au/productView.asp?ID=HB5062&keywords=hb5062&form=KEYWORD they are branded SOANAR. i"ve read some people dont like these because they are finished kind of rough and the sides slope a little but i haven't had a problem with them.

This is the same size as the ZVex boxes sold by small bear. But the Small Bear box has much better screws and threads. If you've built anything with the 1290NS boxes you will note the screws are cheap and then tend to strip easily. The threads are fine and prone to cross threading. The small bear boxes on the other hand have slightly larger screws that are better quality. The head fits a larger screw driver so they are less prone to becoming stripped. The threads are courser and less prone to becoming cross threaded. If you have to take the back off the box more than once or twice you will appreciate the better screws.
