hi folks ,
i put together a vox tonebender as per the schemo here http://fuzzcentral.ssguitar.com/vox.php
on fuzz central.
im only getting a very faint signal when engaged [ bypass is fine ]
im looking for help in where to try and find possible fault. all joints look good thru eye glass magnifier and ive got a stereo in jack wired exactly like my other fuzz build which works fine..anyhu here are some readings

battery outwith box - 9.5 v

Readings taken below with jack inserted to stereo i/p socket with tip connected to switch , sleeve connected to pos battery lead and ground lug connected to ground point on circuit

Q1
C - 1.04V
B - 0.17V
E - 0.00V

Q2
C - 4.5V [ WIith 22k pot wired as varaible res ]
B - 1.04V
E - 0.88V

15 UF ELECTRO [ 22UF IN MY BUILD ]
NEG SIDE TO Q2e  - 0.88V
POS SIDE - 0.00V

47 UF ELECTRO [ AS PER SCHEM ABOVE ]
NEG SIDE [ JUNCTION WITH NEG BATTERY WIRE ] 9.35V
POS SIDE Q1e - 0.00V

INPUT CAP [ NP 0,1 UF ]
Q1b END  - 0.17V
END AT JUNCTION WITH INPUT WIRE FROM SWITCH - 0.00V

all suggestions and help greatly appreciated !
thanks - rob

Hi,

Voltages on Q1's collector look way down.

Checking the value of your 10K resistor would be my first port of call.

Standard 'checks' such as making sure your Transistors are in the correct way round.

Are you using Germaniums too?  They could well be the culprit if they're overly leaky.

Looks like your positive ground is good though. ;-)

thanks for the tip ian -
i'll have a look at that resistor tomorrow. i had put a 12k in i had laying around [ new metal film 0.5 w] but i suppose it could be dodgy cos its solder joints are secure-

Hey,

Did you get this sorted?

Just wondering as I found my Ge Fuzz Face in a box last night.  Can provide voltges from a working one if you need (OC45s though, not OC76 as specified on your layout).

Cheers,

Ian.

hi ian , ive been away a couple of days but yes i got it sorted thanks.
i had the neg battery at the opposite end of the resistor it should have been at and all appears well now.
if you can be bothered , it would be interesting to see what the voltages are on your working model..
cheers !
