A bazz fuss thought and a DC jack question

On the Bazz Fuss fun website he talks about using diff. diodes to make it more of a distortion or overdrive etc. I was wondering it it would work to use two or three and put them on a mini toggle. I know I could just try it but I don't want to spend my limited resources on a switch if my understanding of this is way off. I'm still pretty new to this and wasn't sure it they would still interfere with each other on a toggle.

My other question is this- I put a DC jack in a build with the batt snap. I used this jack-http://www.smallbearelec.com/Detail.bok?no=666  and wired it like this- http://www.beavisaudio.com/techpages/StompboxWiring/index.htm
The batt snap works but the jack won't . If I touch the two poss lugs on the jack together with my finger of if I push on the one that the batt snap is on it kind of cuts in but it's a really hot signal and kind of overly gritty. could I have done it wrong or is it semi-common to get a bad jack?

Are your Battery and Power supply both supplying the same voltage? Perhaps your bazz fuss is better biased to a battery supplying a slightly lower voltage than your PS?

They are actually unrelated projects. the dc prob is on my tweako. I'm running the dc jack with a 9v adapter. Could that still be sending more power?
