Purposely picking up radio stations

Trying to visualize how I can blend in an antenna into my LoFo Mofo. I don't know much about radio receiver circuits but I do know that terribly unshielded effects can pick up radio stations on their own so I don't think this should be too hard. Any starting point suggestions?

  Tune a bandpass to RF ? wait...that's radio frequency.
  I got very distant stations clearly time traveling, and all that, from a resistor at various points in the midst of Fuzzface.

antenna and a diode to start with...something to purposely pickup and "detect"/rectify the incoming A.M. signal

years ago I built super-regenerative fm receiver,  noisy but distortion was awesome
