^   see, that's what I'm confused about.  Other diagrams for the bazz fuss have the input connecting to the positive side of the C1.

Well, the original schematic had it oriented negative towards input.

I moved the switch to the output, but I get a blend of clean and wet signals now, and it is very attenuated compared to straight into the amp.
