Hi shopping around for pots to build my first stompbox but kinda confused on what to get.
I need a 100K Log  and a 500K Rev Log

Is a linear 100K pot the same as a 100K Log Pot?
Also can the 500K Rev Log pot be replaced with a regular 500K pot?

There are 3 types of pots: linear, logarithmic, and reverse logarithmic. I would read "The Secret Life of Pots" at geofx.com. R.G. has some awesome info there.
"Sometimes it takes a thousand notes to make one sound"

Linear: Resistance increases/decreases at the same rate throughout the rotation

Log: Resistance increases logarithmically (read: faster) throughout the rotation

Reverse Log: Resistance decreases logarithmically throughout the rotation

Since we hear in logarithmic form, volume controls are often logarithmic so that the volume appears to be increasing at a continuous rate.  Without a log pot for volume there would be little volume, then suddenly full blast at the end of the rotation.

Thank you. Where can I buy part for less?

Small Bear Electronics isn't too shabby, especially if you live in the US.  Cost me $6 to ship stuff to Canada, I'm not complaining.
