Pot Substitution

Can I use a 500K Audio Taper wired backwards instead of the 500K Rev log taper? I'm build the dod distortion.

Sure, it just means the direction you turn the knob to increase the distortion will be opposite to what would be intuitive. I use a backwards wired pot for the speed control in my EA trem so when you turn it up (clockwise) the speed slows down. (I'm assuming the circuit you're building calls for a reverse log pot.)
