Hi guys!

Long time no see.  I am looking for a booster for my bass rig.  The goal is to push a Hartke LH1000 with a clean signal (I do it right now with a Tech21 VT, but want to try something different).  What would be the difference between the AMZ Mosfet, which is super clean, and the Orange Squeezer, which would compress PLUS boost.  I already modded the Orange Squeezer for bass, but I am looking for some advice if I should build the AMZ or if the overall tone is similar enough (except the compression, of course) not to justify building the AMZ.  I think the Orange Squeeze should have enough boost, but how much boost compared to AMZ?  I read that the AMZ was around +32dB?

The AMZ is waaaaaaaaaaay louder. I mean, just insanely loud. It's easy and fun to build, though, and the power section is useful to learn about, so I'd say build it and then you can directly compare them!

+1 on the amz

recently i got an active pick up rig from ebay for 12 bux , these can be chopped into an eq pedal as well , then you can use the eq and it boosts a lot as well . very very cool , just dont forget polarity protection , i popped the first one .
im learning , we'll thats what i keep telling myself

Funny, I just built an AMZ booster going into an Orange Squeezer. Changed a few things, but not much; can't remember either. ::)  It makes for a great odd sounding fuzz pedal. Good non-fuzz boost, too. Put it in an old candy tin laying around the basement.

Fet version of alembic F2B. It's insanely versatile boost/eq for bass, add a deep switch and it's a killer. But if you must choose between AMZ and Orange go for AMZ.

My current project is to figure out my own booster and/or buffer for my bass. If possible from a single bjt transistor  :-\. Then box it. I even made a thread about it.
