Anyone got any idea what the polarity protection diode is? To be completely honest, I've never even looked at what diodes are used for reverse polarity protection in any pedal. I've been asked to repair one and it's obviously the problem but due to the nature of it's explodedness (not to mention the fact that it's SMD), there's no way in hell I can identify a part number. If I can't source the correct part, what are some substitutions?

The protection diode in mine blew.
It is the smd equivalent of a 4148. The are 2 thruplated holes on the board around this diode and it's easy to solder in a regular 4148 or 914.
I'm at work today but can take a photo tonight of the repair I did. There are manufacturer schems of this pedal floating about also.
If you look at the board, just by the dc socket is what looks just like a regular small diode but without the legs. Follow the traces either side and you should come across the thru plated holes.

Series.  You might want to replace it w/ something a bit more heavy-duty, like an SMD 1N4001.

I wanted to use it and found it wasn't working, hence the 'quick long legged repair'. 
Now i've got it open I might just tidy it up a little.
