Noobish question here - just finished drilling some holes in my first enclosure and everything went surprisingly well, however I'm having trouble figuring out how to mount the pots properly. They're right angle PC mount Alpha pots - the issue I have is one side of the pot has a little metal piece sticking out which prevents me from mounting it flush with the enclosure; with the nut screwed down all the way it's sitting at an angle. I know there's gotta be something obvious and stupid that I can't figure out to get these mounted straight. The Alpha rotary switch I also got has the same issue.

Here's a pic of the metal piece I'm talking about for clarification:

Thanks

I was thinking about doing that but I wanted to know if there was a "proper" method before I went with brute force.

edit: Ok ripped em off  - worked great. Thanks!

You can drill a little hole for them, and they prevent the pot from spinning, which is nice for assembly and the nut staying tight and the pot not spinning around later when it comes loose and someone tightens it without taking it apart and holding the bottom of the pot.  But having the legs soldered to a board pretty much does the same thing, so not much is lost by snapping them off.

Toggle switches have a funny washer with a bent down little tab, these are for the same purpose.  The tab is really nice on the big rotary switches, those tend to be the most prone to getting loose, because of the force to switch them.
