hey all

i'm about to purchase a broken microsynth from the irish equivalent of craigslist. all the listing says is that it's broken, no details. i've offered ~30 bucks for it because that's the most i'm willing to pay for a potential dud. i would like help figuring out what is wrong with it, kind of like a step by step guide in the form of "try this, and if it doesn't work, try this, and if that doesn't work, try this..." so i can slowly but surely cross off causes. also, what kind of questions should i ask before agreeing to buy it?

thanks.

If I were you, I'd read:
- the guitar effect debugging page http://geofex.com/fxdebug/fxdebug.htm at geofex.com
- "Debugging: what to do when it doesn't work"; this is one of those sticky messages you had to scroll through to get down to here.

Those are a good start.

In response to the questions in the forum - PCB Layout for Musical Effects is available from The Book Patch. Search "PCB Layout" and it ought to appear.
