hi guys silly question probably.. :icon_redface:

im looking at the ghost dance which uses a 4069...

but i only have a 4049..different pin outs.. but can i still use it.. using pins 2-3 on the 4049 instead of pins 1-2 on the 4069.. same sort of ic isnt it...?

thanks in advance... :icon_wink:

Yup , same functions , different pin-out  - just take care with the numbering !

General Guitar Gadgets suggests the buffered or unbuffered (I can't recall which) version of the 4069 for their Red Llama clone. I can't recall why but I thought I'd mention it.

Somewhere around here there's a converter board project, but the other way 'round...

AHA!!

I suppose a similar idea could be done to convert 4049 - 4069.

When using inverters for linear work, you want unbuffered. Usually UBE suffix.

The exception would be if you want glitchy craziness - then you'd want the buffered version.

yep got the ube's...cheers taylor!..

Inverters for linear work? I'm not disagreeing, I'm reveling in the use of digital gates and analog linear regions!

I'm not sure I understand you here, but I was just filling in your blank. You said "buffered or unbuffered (I can't recall which)" so I was answering that for you.

twas nothin. That's great stuff to know though.
When I first saw the Red Llama schematic, I had to scratch my head seeing the input to an inverter gate like this, but I got it now.
