I've been losing my mind over this recently, and I can't imagine how a circuit with such a low parts count can have so many problems for me.

Anyways, I've got two (ish) issues with this pedal. The first one has been solved, but only because I couldn't pinpoint the problem and just redid the entire pbc. The "ish" is because I'm not sure if it's really a problem.

I built it using the updated version of the circuit (with a zener diode instead of two normal diodes, and a 46k resistor pulling output to ground, instead of a 100k, and a 5k reverse log pot, instead of a linear taper pot).

Anyways, the first issue is that when I have the volume pot of the booster all the way up, and my guitar's master volume turned all the way down, i'm getting some radio stations coming through the amp. And they're very clear, and pretty loud as well. I can't pinpoint why this is happening. If I roll the booster volume pot down a little, the radio station will go away, or, if I turn the guitar volume pot up a little, the radio will go away. So this only occurs with guitar volume the way down and booster volume wide open.

The second problem is that when I have the booster volume all the way up, and if I roll the guitar volume down past a certain point, I'll get this insane humming mixed with extremely gated guitar coming through. This leads me to think that the bs170 isn't biased properly or something. At any rate, I fixed this problem by completely redoing the circuit (the previous circuit that I was using, the one that caused this problem, had the older schematic being employed). Should be noted that this problem wasn't encountered when using a humbucker guitar. Anyways, even though I solved this problem with the new circuit, I'd still like to try and figure out why it happened.

Lastly, the "ish" problem is that I played my pedal side by side with an acutal retail version of the pedal at a guitar store, and I found that the DIY one had a whole bunch more boost, which I'm not sure is a good or bad thing. Is it possible to damage my amp with such a great amount of boost? The type of boost where, you have your amp set so it's almost barely audible, and when you engage the pedal, the amp get's relatively loud. Maybe it's just me.

Anyways, maybe others have encountered these problems or similar ones, and have solved them somehow. Some insight would be very much appreciated.
To those about to rock, we salute you.
