GGG TS-808 mysteriously stopped working. Any ideas?

Could it have been a bad socket for the IC?  One of my 'hygiene checks' when I'm debugging is a continuity test between solder joint, through socket, to IC leg.  Had a socket once that just refused to pass signal through one of its positions - but the voltages still looked fine!

That was a consideration.  But after all was said and done I switched the ICs back and forth several times and the original would not work when any replacement I tried would.  If it goes out again I'll def replace the socket as my first measure.  It's just an annoyance to me to get those things out - not my favorite task at all... and since it's working at the moment I'm leaving well enough alone until circuit failure rears its ugly head.  Also, when I originally tested the voltages on the IC I tested at the solder joints AND above on the exposed part of the legs.  The continuity seemed fine.  I was, however, VERY close to replacing the socket when I said to myself "why not try switching ICs one more time?"  The rest is history.  I highly value the suggestion though! Thanks!
