New fulltone pedal hard/soft clip

I saw a couple threads recently on hard and soft clipping in one pedal. fulltone is soon to release the "plimsoul" http://www.fulltone.com/stpframe.html
One thing i dont get is whats the point of hard and soft clipping together? wont it just sound soft?
UNLESS... it clips in parallel and the signals meet at the output. HMMM

Sounds like the clipping is probably in parallel to me like in a Boss OS-2 Overdrive/Distortion.

Sounds like the GM Arts distortion pedal, the Cusack Screamer Fuzz, or any other number of pedals that offer soft/hard clipping or hi/lo gain options and have been around forever.
