how about changing the gain pot to 250K,will it work..?

Yeah, increasing the gain pot should provide more gain at the top of the pot.

You could try swapping the LEDs for diodes, that will increase distortion and sustain although you will lose some volume.

250K for the gain work best for my need.. but somtimes it's hard to play with the EQ setting.. i get lots of gain and it nice to excute fast shred licks but it get muddy at low E/A strings....
