lipstick and hummers

Hi all,
I've recently got into building. Did a devi SM and have sourced parts for a BAZZ and a Tripple fuzz.

I used to play an Ibanez with humbuckers and a Teisco (Heidt Deluxe) with single coils. I've switch full time to a Dano Dead on 67 reissue, with "hot" lipstick pickups.

I've tried to read up on input signal and impedance but I'm a greenhorn. Is there a best practice on adjusting values for this type of pickup? or is it a preference thing based on my ear?
