Painting etched aluminium enclousures

Do you guys use primer on your etched designs? Or do you just spray final coat directly and then you sand it off?

I concur, however I've never used primer on any paint job. I will say also that I don't like to lay down a lot of layers of paint when etching because then you lose the relief.
