Can someone help me find the right transformer?

I'm looking to build a 15 volt bipolar power supply- this one at GGG seems to fit the bill fine:  http://www.generalguitargadgets.com/content/view/137/26/

So it says I need a 18-24 volt transformer.  But I'd also like one that will fit inside a 1U rack enclosure.  Anybody know where I should start?

The circuit at GGG is what you do if you already have a transformer without a center tap and need to make bipolar power supplies anyway. If you have to buy a transformer, get the right one and use a bridge rectifier, not a dual half-wave rectifier.

Better yet, read "Power Supplies Basics" at Geofex while you're waiting for the trannie to arrive.

Get a toroidal transformer. Wide and flat, and half the size of E-I for the same power level.

For a bipolar power supply - you don't say how much current - get a 30Vct trannie at 1-2A. The Mouser part number 553-VPT30-1670 is for a toroid that is 30Vct at a bit over an amp, and is 1.3" high - a neat fit with room to spare in a 1.875" single RU enclosure. The only bad part is the price - it's about $30.

There are other suppliers. Go here

for a similar trannie for $11.

Get a rectifier bridge. You'll get by with half the filter capacitance because of the better rectification.

The Antek R.G. recommended has dual secondaries. It's not center-tapped, and I think 2 x 32V windings are a bit overkill.
I would get this one instead... http://www.antekinc.com/details.php?p=21, same size, more oooomph, and it's the same price.
2 x 15VAC @ 800mA
Deception does not exist in real life, it is only a figment of perception.

Same thing, one more wire to solder. Dual secondaries are more flexible in application; they can be used in series (centertapped) or parallel.

AACK! They are. I looked at the wrong line!

2x15 is what I meant to pick out. Yes, that transformer is the right one. Thanks for catching that.
