What value pot for a volume mod?

I have a Maxon CS-505 RI the one in the small MXR sized box. I love the rich lush chorus sound but it has way to much boost while using the pedal with distortion. So I'm going to look tonight and see if the output jack isn't attached to the pc board so I can add a volume pot to the out put jack. Does anyone know what value pot would be best for this? I like the boost while playing clean but I want to be able to kill some volume on the pedal while I'm using it with a distortion pedal. Thx in advance... Richard

If put to the output jack it'll attenuate signal bypass too.
You want it 'inside' the bypass circuit...trickier wicket maybe.
   Or...perhaps somewhere's else'd do ye...which comes first, distortion or chorus ?
Would a fixed value output be ok [nearer unity or unity ?
How easy does the MAxon look to modify ? All SMT might not be worth the risk/difficulty/impossibility...unless you can find a 'safe' way out and into the circuit [sometimes an existing pot or switch offers a signal wire in a handy place of the circuit...say near output..

Ahhhh. Thx I didn't think about that. I haven't opened the pedal up all the way but i did see that the switch is a 3 lug switch I assume that one wire is coming into the switch, another wire is going to the circuit board and the 3rd wire is going to the output. So I would want to place the vol pot between the switch and circuit board so there is no decrease in volume with the pedal off. But what value pot will I need? I was thinking a 500k. Thoughts?
