You do have a good point Al. Old and simple, less gain, more character can be a lot better. Still, maybe it is just that I just don't really like opamps  . I have replaced my Tube Screamer with a UBE Screamer from ROG. I'm still listening to it a lot to see if I like it more, but I'm beginning to believe that it is an improvement.
