will max1044/icl7660 drive multiple dc outlets?

i heard recently that the max1044 chip has a pretty low output amperage.  i wanted to build a charge pump that will power 2 or 3 outlets at ~18V, is there a different chip that will do this?  or a different design than the one on the max1044 tech sheet?

Just wanna point out that power out cannot exceed power in

so 9V @ 1A into a chip cannot give you 18V @ 1A out from the doubler. Might not be able to just plug a DC jack into a chip and have it work, BUT

I doubt the current draw from 2 pedals is too much for a MAX1044 though... I think the chip itself draws 325mA. Or maybe that's the output... In any case, it really depends on what pedals you're powering. I believe most pedals draw <50mA
