yes, me too.  I've built the Shocktave, but this seems like it just might beat it out.

I've seen that everybody use 1n34A or 1N60 for diodes in Shin-Ei Octave. But original unit use sh-1 diodes. What's thedifference? It is really hard to find those diodes or information about them. I've found in old catalog that sh-1 have VF (forward Voltage) around 1V. Germanium 1N34a or 1n60 around 200-300mV. With big VF diodes Shin-Ei Octave have a little more pronounced octave and octave is less fuzzy. So try to build S-E OB with at least 1n4148. For more volume change R36 and R37 to 47k or less.
