I'm starting a DS-1 project and want to know how to get more volume. I like to hit my amps hard, but not use alot of the pedal overdrive. So far I've only switched R9 from 22 to 1K and I'm already impressed w/ the change.

I bought it because I'm new at this, they're common, cheap and there are so many mods out there to play with. Stock they sound as bad as people say they do, but the one change I made was very suprising.

I modded a friends and played with the tone stack to even out the response. This really warmed up the pedal and bumped the overall volume a bit.

I can't recall the values off hand, I just used Duncans tone stack calculator until I got a flatter curve.
Also, search for 5thumbs' (fivethumbs? It's one of the other...) post about the DS-1, he has a great write up on mods.

Do these not have much output in generial?

If you don't mid slightly less distortion, and want more output, replace the SI diodes with LED's.  The threshold of the SI diodes is .7v.  The threshold of the LED's is 1.8v.  Noticeably more.   :icon_cool:

I did the huevos grande mod on mine and loved the tone but same deal, need just a touch more output. I'd be interested in a solution here too.

I printed a bunch of that article out. I'll just have to keep experimenting. I guess I was hoping for a quick answer.
