About Change the Linear POT

Postby rico_wonderland ยป Yesterday, 22:00
hai, i'm new here.... =)
i want to know, how to change some linier pot to revers log pot and log pot???? can anyone explain me one by one??? in this case, i have to build a micro amp and guvnor clone from tonepad, but i don't fine any log and revers log in my country.... just linier....  :icon_cry:

microamp is 500k rev log.... can i make the 500k linier to 500k rev log???
guvnor need 10k log for bass mid and treb..... can i make 10k linier to 10k log???

or maybe with different linier value??? or what??? please help me...

for info: i try used 500k linier to micro amp... and, the pot not show me a defferent value until on the 2 o'clock knobs... why thats happend?? or because the pot's??? :hmmm:

The secret life of pots: GEO.
Yupp, not sure whcih linear goes to which other taper on all that.
However it can be sorted out...
When I wasn't able to sort it out, I resorted to alternative value of some kind, or anything such as reduced range but spread across knob rotation nicely, and covered the 'tones' range [what the R range equated to as far as any particular circuits tonal response] I needed or found most useful.
In any pot assignment one can:
Set pot at low, measure resistance[s.
  Set for High, measure resistance[s.
Analyze and configure stop and tapering resistors or just the pots you have on hand or would order...and get more useful rotation out of it.
Any pot measureing about 500k in a position that calls for 500k will cover the entire range of...500k and tonal response. All the change in circuit operation may take place at one end of the rotation if the taper doesn't 'match'.
For instance some of use had trouble with DIST+ Gainpot taper, and decided that with the right taper, the knob was always between 8 and 10. Using a 100k spread this tonal range across the entire knob rotation range allowing fine tuning of the gain/distortion/voicing [that knobs circuit response] changes, but eliminating all the settings possible with the original pot between 0 and 8...the 'clean-ish' settings that weren't so clean...ie not what Distortion Plus was really designed for anyway [those of us who have modded the Dist+ this way probably feel there's better clean-ish boosters].
You could play with photocells even, but altered pot taper [via tapering resistors across pot lugs] /stop resistor [a resistor connected to and outside the pot] may offer more acceptable [or even preferred] range of control, probably less fiddly than photocells.
Or use resistors and multi-way switch...
Lots of alternatives, the trick is to figure out what R change equates to what tone change...and ballpark the value range accordingly or as is possible.
Convention creates following, following creates convention.

wow... that will be a long experience..... i'm so confused.... why in my country INdonesia., i don't have to know or see about any Log and Rev.Log Pot.... this is so wired ???
