Hi,

Did anyone try electro etching on enclosure and had succes with it?
Just saltwater, some aluminium and a power supply and no nasty chemicals.

I just did a little test with electro-etching.
Did a toner transfer on some aluminum with my usual glossy-magazine-paper-toner-transfer method.
Mixed some salt with hot water and connected the positive terminal of my psu to a leftover piece of aluminum.
The negative to the piece with the toner on it.
Switched on the psu at 12Vdc and it immediately starts to fizz (quite hard).
After a while I checked and noticed that the toner starts to come of... :(

Was this due to the hard fizzing? The current to high at 3A?
Or the water too hot? Don't know but I'll try again in a few days.

Neat!  I've stayed away from etching because of the nasty chemicals.

Well it definitely sounds promising. How long did you end up etching? Was a significant amount of aluminum removed? Care to share pics?
